How Does the ESSCEC Work? |
|
|
During the proposal-writing stage, ESSCEC staff work with researchers to develop a broader impacts plan that fits within the proposal’s budget. Staff can assist with writing the broader impacts sections of the proposal to ensure that the activities are supported by current educational research, include best practices, and are matched well with the targeted audience.
When the grant is awarded, ESSCEC staff work with researchers to implement the broader impacts activity. Implementation may include outreach activities facilitated directly by ESSCEC staff or guidance to assist student-led outreach.
ESSCEC oversees assessment of learning outcomes from the activity, and provides a written summary of outcomes for inclusion in grant reports to the funding agency.
What is the advantage to me? 1) Researchers can spend more time on research while knowing the project has a high-quality outreach component. 2) Quantitative documentation of learning outcomes strengthens final report. 3) More public awareness of your research; increased taxpayer support for research in general and at your University.
